Bainbridge Scarf Remix in Purple

A few nights ago I started on the bainbridge scarf remix, which has been hampered somewhat by only owning 4 double pointed needles in 3.75mm. When I say I only own 4, I think I should really say that I can only find 4, as they often slide down behind the couch and disappear forever. I have on the other hand, a handy op shop at the shopping plaza next to work, and they sell single needles for 50c! It’s been quite the helpful op shop, althought I get some odd looks from some of the old ladies 🙂

Am about halfway along, and just learned how to do a buttonhole! Used the knittingonthenet version D tutorial with the twisted purlwise cast on – looking good!

Not much ado about anything

I’ve not had a huge chance to do any knitting the past few days, but I did get a few inches of the blue scarflet in while attempting to simultaneously not muck up the moss stitch and navigate the streets of Melbourne as we attempt to buy a house.

I’m looking forward to moving out of the flat and into a house and am planning my craft room in my head. In reality it’s not actually that different from what I have here, except the dining table will no longer triple as computer table and sewing table, and there will be a lot less boxes of stuff everywhere! I have my eye on one of those 5 x 5 square ikea shelving units, with lots of big drawers for my wool.

This scarflet is making me crazy!

Finally past the first loop, but I feel that I would be about halfway done if I didn’t have to keep unpicking rows of stitches because I lose track! I now have a strict row marking system, so fingers crossed that this starts to go a bit faster.

Garter stitch loop-through scarf

It’s quite embarrassing to admit it, but I am having trouble with this scarf. Not so much where everyone else is having problems – when the stitches are slipped onto 2 dpns which seems fairly obvious to me.

Progress so far

My problem is with the joining of the two loop sides together again. I get the whole alternating slipping on and knitting again thing – I just don’t know what I’m doing with the abandoned thread of the first side – do I knot it onto something, thread it somewhere, or just leave it hanging?
